Our first amplifier models are based on a circuit design
many years in the making. This overdrive character of the "Model
A" circuit is somewhat Marshall-like; think: Plexi meets early
JCM 800. These amps have a very harmonically rich and detailed sound;
with an extended frequency range not very common in similar amp designs.
Dialing in a great clean sound is quick and easy. This is a "50"
watt/ Master Volume/ class AB design. These all tube-hand wired-point
to point amplifiers built on a solid stainless steel chasis; contain
the highest grade Cardas "Litz" enamel coated hookup wire
and premium hi-fi grade Capacitors and over-spec resistors. High purity
Jupiter solid silver wire (99.999% pure) is used in our preamp circuit
as well. The components are soldered to heavy duty turret boards using
hi-fi grade Cardas Quad Eutectic (copper,silver,lead,tin) solder. Most
components are treated with a process we affectionately call "Greased
Lightning" ; this process greatly enhances the ease of electron
movement and stabilizes materials that are subject to heat and stress.
This process has been found to be 3 to 4 times more effective than Cryogenic
treatments which are becoming more common in the tube audio industry.
P.E.A.R.L. tube coolers are another unique feature typically used only
in ultra hi-fi tube audio equipment for greatly extended tube life (conservatively
triple) and dampening of sonically damaging vibrations from speaker
cabinets. These amps are very responsive to subtle changes in pick or
finger attack giving players great control over their sound. Where possible;
high grade film capacitors replace electrolytics for longer life and
better sonic performance. Those experienced players that are sceptical
of amplifiers built to this level only need to play one for themselves
to realize the sonic benefits of a no comprimise signal path.
